Sheriff’s Office Cleans Up the Streets…. “Litter-ally”
The Sheriff’s Office Litter Crew program has been hard at work cleaning up the county. From January to June of this year, the program picked up 75,460 pounds of garbage from the roadways throughout Mason County.
While this program is not a traditional mandate of the Sheriff’s Office mission, Sheriff Salisbury continued the program in the ongoing commitment to working in partnership with the community to identify and resolve issues that impact public safety. The Sheriff stated, “The Litter Crew program efforts have a direct impact on the physical and environmental safety of our County. We are committed to doing our part to be good stewards of our community.”
The Litter Crew is staffed by one employee and inmates on trustee status at the Mason County Jail. The program gives the inmates an opportunity to give back to the community while serving their sentence.
