Sheriff Casey Salisbury swore in Deputy Matt Leitgeb and Deputy Carlos Rangel at a gathering in the sheriff’s office on April 18, 2016.
Sheriff Salisbury said, “I am thrilled to be filling two deputy positions with these quality individuals who will soon be supporting our core missions of preventing crime and citizen safety.”
Deputy Matt Leitgeb is a lateral hire from Arizona and has nearly 13 years of law enforcement experience in both Arizona and Washington. For approximately the next three months, Deputy Leitgeb will be assigned to various Field Training Officers within the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Carlos Rangel has previous experience in corrections and is a veteran of the United States Army Infantry. He will also be assigned to Field Training Officers until he is confirmed to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien where he will receive 720 hours of training over a 5 month period.
