SHERIFF SWEARS IN NEW JAIL CHIEF
Sheriff Casey Salisbury swore in newly appointed Mason County Jail Chief Kevin Hanson at the monthly Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Meeting at Spencer Lake on September 1, 2016. Chief Hanson has 25 years of jail corrections experience in Lewis County with the last 6 years serving as Chief of the Lewis County Jail.
Chief Hanson said, “My goals here are to provide a safe, effective, and efficient system to work within. I want to have the jail be a place where people want to come to work because they feel trusted, valued and respected.”
During his service at the Lewis County Jail, Chief Hanson was part of a team who helped design and oversee the construction of a new jail which was completed in 2003. He has also served on the WASPC jail accreditation team.
Chief Hanson partnered with others to create the Mental Health Alternative, a post sentence treatment program designed to address mentally ill persons with a high rate of recidivism in the criminal justice system. He currently serves as Board member/treasurer of Cascade Mental Health Services.
