Belfair Man Found Deceased After Sexual Assault Allegation

Shelton, WA - Sunday, March 31, 2013

At approximately 00:28 AM on Sunday morning, March 31, 2013, the live-in girlfriend of a Belfair man called the Mason County Sheriff’s Office to report that he had sexually assaulted a child that was known to him.  When Deputies arrived, they found the man deceased from an apparent self inflicted injury.  Detectives responded where the live-in girlfriend and the child were both interviewed and released.  The crime scene was also processed and evidence gathered. 

Due to the Mason County Coroners Office not having completed the death notification to the next of kin, as well as the on-going investigation and the sensitive nature of the allegation, no other information is being released at this time.  An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning April 1st.
