Shelton, WA - Tuesday, May 3, 2011
Walter J. Henry, 31, Shelton, is recovering from stab wounds he sustained Saturday night at a residence located on SE Skalapin Lane. According to Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies, Henry and his friend, Fernando Rodriguez, 46, Shelton, went to a house on SE Skalapin Lane on Saturday evening. While at the residence an argument and altercation broke out between Rodriguez and Henry. Deputies say alcohol was a factor in the dispute leading to the incident.
Squaxin Island Police Department Officers responded to the residence at about 10:30 PM. When officers arrived, they found Henry on the floor of the house suffering from stab wounds. A short time later Mason County Deputies arrived and deployed a K-9 unit to search the area for a suspect. The search was started a short distance from the scene on a tip from a citizen whom had seen a suspicious man.
Rodriguez was subsequently located and taken into custody by the K-9 unit. After being identified by a witness, Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Mason County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree. Rodriguez made his first court appearance yesterday and is being held on $250,000 bail.
Deputies say that Henry is recovering from his stab wounds and is expected to be released from St Peter Hospital in Olympia today.
