The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting dedicated, community minded people who would like to give back to their community by volunteering some of their time to augment the needs of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s volunteers assist with administrative duties, answer phones, meet and greet the public, write reports, and many other duties as needed. Volunteers on Patrol perform other duties including posting sex offender bulletins and performing seat belt compliance checks, issuing hulk permits, boat inspections, and traffic control at community events. Sheriff’s administrative volunteers go through a 12 hour training program and are assigned to one 4 hour shift per week at the Belfair Substation. Administrative Volunteers may, after a time, be called upon to be a Volunteer on Patrol. Volunteers on Patrol work a flexible schedule 4 hours per week.
Skills needed to be a Sheriff’s Volunteer include a community minded service attitude along with accurate spelling, able to speak and write clearly and concisely, accurate typing, able to handle stressful encounters with the public and an ability to multi-task.

The Volunteers strive to maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all of their specialized skills and abilities.
