DRIVER SHOOTS SELF DURING TRAFFIC STOP

A 52 year-old Bremerton woman has died after shooting herself during a traffic stop by a Mason County Sheriff’s deputy.  On July 21, 2016 at 3:30pm a deputy pulled a car over on Trails End Rd.  The deputy reported that as he approached the vehicle he heard a shot.  A wounded, unconscious female was found in the driver’s seat with a firearm close by.

The female was removed from the vehicle and first aid was performed.  She later died on the way to the hospital.

Due to the fact that the shooting occurred in the presence of a deputy, the Region 3 Critical Incident Investigation Team was activated and detectives from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting the primary investigation.
